Madison School and Community Recreation (MSCR) is welcoming Jacob Tisue as its new Executive Director.
“We’re pleased to welcome Jacob to our Madison schools team,” Superintendent Jennifer Cheatham said. “MSCR plays a critical role in our school district and community. Jacob brings a strong background recreation and community programs, and we know he will be a great leader for MSCR.”
Tisue currently serves as the Warner Park Facility Manager for the City of Madison Parks Department. He has also worked as Park, Recreation and Forestry Director for the Village of Cottage Grove, Program Director for the YMCA of Black Hawk County and a site coordinator for a 21st Century Community Learning Center. Tisue also teaches Recreation Management at Madison College.
As part of the Madison Metropolitan School District, MSCR provides a wide variety of programming for all ages including out of school time programming for students in after school, arts, sports, outdoor adventure, swimming, fitness and camp opportunities.
“I am very excited for this opportunity and look forward to leading this dynamic organization,” said Tisue. “MSCR has a long history of serving the students, staff and families of the Madison Metropolitan School District and working with numerous community partners to provide high quality programming for youth and adults. I look forward to getting out into the community to meet with partners MSCR works with and greet our many MSCR participants.”
Tisue is taking over the leadership role after the retirement of Lucy Chaffin, who served as MSCR’s executive director for 21 years.
“I’d like to thank Lucy for her outstanding leadership of MSCR,” Cheatham said. “She’s served our students, schools and community extremely well, and we wish her the best in her next chapter.”
