The Madison Metropolitan School District Board of Education today issued Superintendent Jennifer Cheatham’s second formal evaluation, saying the superintendent has exceeded expectations in her leadership of the district.
“We are pleased with Jen’s leadership of the district and her work to keep us focused on improving achievement for all and closing opportunity gaps,” Superintendent James Howard said. “We are looking forward to working with Jen to keep our district moving forward.”
The superintendent’s evaluation process is modeled after the new statewide evaluations that teachers and principals now participate in. The board also gave informal feedback to the superintendent at each of its quarterly retreats throughout the year.
The board considered the superintendent’s performance on a set of key competencies that included board/superintendent relations, organizational climate and culture, instructional leadership, budget/operations management, talent performance and management and school/community relations.
“I’d like to thank the board for their support of our district team and for their feedback throughout the year,” Cheatham said. “We are making great strides in our district, and I look forward to working with them to continue to bring our vision to life.”
